Making Fermented Vegetables - Sauerkrauts, Pickles and More!

Lacto-fermented foods can be exciting and healthful with the right knowledge. In this workshop, Sarah and Michael from Wild Oak Homestead will provide you with the information and confidence to make your own healthy fermented foods at home. This workshop is both informational and practical demonstrating to the group one batch of fermented vegetables. Discover the ancient process fermentation and how you can easily integrate home-made fermented foods into your daily life. There will also be some of Wild Oak Homestead's unique fermented foods available.
In this workshop we will cover:
  • Benefits of fermenting food
  • Basic “rules” of fermentation
  • How to ferment sauerkraut, sour pickles, kvass, pastes and condiments
  • Demonstration of the creation of one batch
  • Pros and cons of various fermentation vessels
  • Common mistakes, how to prevent them, and fixes
  • Resources for more information on fermenting
