Canning Workshop

The Beckwitch, Penny Foster, joined us to teach our registrants all about water bath canning at the Galetta Community Centre.

In attendance, we had some seasoned folks who wanted to brush up on their knowledge and some novices who were there to learn from the beginning. The three hour workshop flew by as Penny shared her wisdom, including invaluable safety information and the debunking of canning myths. The registrants got their hands dirty almost right away, making a blueberry rhubarb jam and picking beets. There was a flurry of activity in the kitchen and it was beautiful to see how well everyone worked together and learned as they worked.

During the break, everyone enjoyed a delicious array of snacks and beverages brought by the Lorne Sutherland Women's Institute while having the opportunity to see and hear more about the work they do.
